THE HEART-STOPPING JEWELLERY GIFT IDEAS FOR HER BIRTHDAY, GEMOLOGUE
The wonderful thing about birthdays is that they allow you to dream and wish for beautiful things, like the perfect piece of jewellery, and sometimes, just sometimes, your dreams come true.
So, if I had to choose my dream jewellery, I don’t think I could just choose one piece. When I think back to how many jewellery designs I have seen, it’s more than 5,000 from at least 300 jewellery brands. That’s a lot of beautiful jewellery that would make anybody’s birthday something to remember.
For me, it’s all about the design rather than the brand. If something leaves its mark on my jewellery soul, then that means it is on my wish list for the ultimate in birthday gifts.
Cypris The Swan Rings From Maison Boucheron
These beautiful rings are set in pavé black sapphires and white diamonds with two rubies for eyes, in blackened white gold, and represent perfect love.
Named after the Greek Goddess for love and beauty, the swan is a symbol of everlasting love, and would make the perfect birthday gift. I just love this ring. The beautiful layering in the engraving and the different layers of feathers create movement in this sumptuous ring by Maison Boucheron. When worn as a pair, head to tail, the swans take on a dance and interplay with each other to become one magnificent ring set.

Annoushka Mythology Globe Amulet
If you’re looking for the perfect jewellery piece for every day, then you should check out Annoushka. A firm believer in expressing yourself through jewellery, Annoushka says that there should be no boundaries in wearing diamonds with jeans. “The same piece of jewellery can be formal or informal.”
I love this piece because it speaks to the wanderlust in me. I love to travel. This globe actually spins and the countries, set in pavé diamonds, sparkle magnificently, bringing the whole piece to life.
Inspired from a spinning globe given to Annoushka by her Godfather when she was a child that hung in the nursery, the jewellery designer often wears this piece as a reminder of those days. I recall she was wearing it the last time we met for tea at Claridges.

Buccellati
These Rigato engraved bracelets from Buccellati showcase the same goldsmith techniques of Renaissance times. When you look closely at one of these pieces and recognize the time and devotion that goes into each creation, it quite takes your breath away. A wonderful mix of classical and contemporary, I could wear a Buccellati bracelet every day, especially in white gold.

Bulgari Serpenti Watch
I could wear this beautiful serpentine watch all day and never take it off. The white mother-of-pearl dial set with diamond indexes and a double spiral bracelet with brilliant-cut diamonds embodies the powerful spirit of the snake as a symbol of life. I want to surround myself in this energy and let it guide me through life and all its transitions.

Giovanni Ferraris Titanium Collection
My obsession with titanium statement earrings is very simple to explain – luxury, volume and lightness. Statement earrings are like a gorgeous pair of high heels, they empower a woman. And that’s exactly how I feel when I wear these diamond and sapphire earrings from the Ferraris Titanium Collection.
The movement in these earrings in the way that they fall and how the light catches the intricate pavé-set diamonds and blue sapphires is extraordinary. So lightweight, I could wear these all day long.

Dior Joaillerie – Milly Carnivora Collection
Just take a look at this bold and beautiful jewellery from Dior. Bucolic Fantasy! A unique flower garden studded in diamonds, yellow tourmalines and rubellite, set against electric hues of lacquer. This ring is magical to wear, a wonderful masterpiece that captures the eye from every angle. You won’t go unnoticed wearing this beauty.

Solange Azagury-Partridge
This Bleeding Heart pendant brings back memories for me from my visit to Solange in Paris. Perhaps that is why I’m so drawn to this piece. Dipped in translucent red lacquer, this pendant has a bit of weight to it. I could wear it close to my heart all day long.

Messika
Messika has a way with diamonds that makes your heart stop for a second. A true diamond artiste, Messika captures the diamond’s unique beauty in each setting to bring out it brightness and character. Beautiful, edgy, modern jewellery to satisfy every woman’s lust for diamonds. For me, it was this square cut choker. Simply stunning.

Ara Vartanian
Can you believe the captivating colour of this paraiba tourmaline. Reminds me of the beautiful waters of the Maldvies, my favourite destination. A beautiful gem that captured my heart a long time ago and will not let go. Set against a necklace of black diamonds in true Ara Vartanian style, this piece looks surreal when worn. My dream piece and I know Kate Moss feels the same way. I’ve seen her wearing this exact same piece.

Bulgari
The colour of these Burmese sapphires is something that catches my eye everywhere I go. My absolute favourite colour. My friends know you can’t go wrong if they buy me anything in electric blue. From a long dress to a Chanel bag, this is the colour I adore.
I got to try on this beauty during my visit to Sotheby’s. Although Bulgari is known for their exquisite diamonds, for me, it’s all about this beautiful blue Burmese sapphire. Irresisitible.
Moritz Glik
Jewellery is a journey and along the way, you develop a special relationship with certain designs, which is exactly what happened with Moritz Glik. A unique designer out of Brazil, I fell in love with his jewellery because of the way he crafts geometric designs under the influence of classic architecture and turns them into modern masterpieces. Could be my fascination with Ayn Rand at the moment, but Glik’s floating gems are heavenly.
Leyla Abdollahi
These seductive earrings with a heavy art deco influence come from an emerging Fine Jewellery designer who is not afraid to push the boundaries and challenge conventions. Leyla Abdollahi’s bold creations from the Lust & Lure Collection are beautiful with a hint of darkness. When I first saw these earrings, my heart stopped. Black onyx, green emeralds and white diamonds set in the most provocative curvy design, it’s a winner.

Annina Vogel
Stars are something I have always loved in jewellery. A symbol of power and excellence, a rising star, I cannot get enough of them. Whether it’s this beautiful vintage piece from Annina Vogel or the classic necklace I tried on at CHANEL, stars are among some of my favourites.

Staurino Fratelli
Recognized the world over for exquisite handmade jewellery, Staurino Fratelli is innovating the art of micro pavé with a distinct Italian flair. These stunning statement earrings are pure craftsmanship. The way the diamonds catch the light and the seductive curves of the feather-like shape accentuate the ear and jawline beautifully!

Sevan Bıçakçı
Known as the King of Rings, Sevan’s creations are a wonder to behold. One of the most gifted jewellery designers I’ve seen, Sevan is a true artist who uses old-world traditional carving to create objects out of precious stones. Each piece holds a precious world on the inside that is sure to captivate.
Marina B
Chokers are an absolute favourite piece of mine when it comes to wearing jewellery. This one from Marina B made of emeralds, rubies, diamonds and pearls is an eye-catching design, classic yet modern that typifies the style of the designer. Inspired by her grandfather, Sotiro Bulgari, Marina B’s bold use of colour and design elements makes this a birthday favourite for me.

All these beautiful pieces bring back so many memories of all the places I have visited and the amazing jewellery I have seen over the years. Who wouldn’t be happy to receive any one of these 16 pieces for their birthday. Don’t worry. If that’s way out of your league, I’m sure a membership to Corinthia Spa in London would make someone very happy on their birthday this year. Right, girls?
