THE JEWELLERY ART OF: ARA VARTANIAN, KATE MOSS FAVOURITE LONDON
GEMOLOGUE – Some of you may recall my remarkable trip to São Paulo for the first time, where I discovered the Brazilian Jewellery Designer Ara Vartanian. This time, I was happy to welcome Ara and his beautiful wife and model, Sabrina Gasperin to London for a rare preview of his latest jewellery collection.
After a day at Ascot (the quintessential British experience!), we met at a cocktail reception generously hosted by Fran Cutler at a private home in Chelsea. I had the privilege of choosing a few magnificent pieces for the inimitable Kate Moss to try on, who is a great admirer of Ara Vartanian’s style, and who also shares my passion for those outstanding Paraiba Tourmaline gemstones.
Of all the exceptional pieces of jewellery, Kate Moss picked a beautiful tourmaline bracelet and agreed to pose for a photo in her true signature style
Some of the other lucky guests invited to this exclusive preview of Ara Vartanian‘s unique jewellery collection included Daniella Pickup, Alexis Knox, Kyle De’volle, Willa Keswick, James Brown, Same Old Sean, Jessica Simon and Luciana Rique.
With so many exquisite pieces to choose from, it didn’t take long for Kate Moss to choose another chunky, statement bracelet.
One of Ara Vartanian‘s signature pieces, the three-finger ring with white and yellow diamonds. I can live with that!
Fresh and fun nibbles – an essential part of all good cocktail receptions. You can work up quite an appetite trying on so many stunning pieces of jewellery!
With Sabrina Gasperin and the one-and-only Ara Vartanian.
What a magnificent ring! I’m sure you’re all holding your breath right now! This ring with its oversized Paraiba Tourmaline, like the waters of the Maldives, shows off the playful nature of Ara Vartanian’s designs – something I love and admire.
With so many beautiful gems that Mother Earth has to offer, the gemologist in Ara Vartanian seeks out the most colourful and outstanding stones of all – Tanzanite, Paraiba Tourmaline, Rubies, Emeralds – and the designer in him creates unique statement jewellery, unmatched in precision and quality.
This exceptional tanzanite ring with pavé white diamonds and the signature inverted black diamonds makes a regal statement and is empowering to wear – the ultimate in statement jewellery.
It was truly an honour to be a part of this exclusive preview and to see some of the exciting new pieces in Ara Vartanian’s collection of fine jewellery.
The ring with punch! Ara Vartanian’s signature three-ring design with black and brown diamonds again gives you a feeling of power and daring when you wear it. Brown diamonds are much sought after in Brazil and are as praised as much as white diamonds. As a gemologist, I have a hard time coming to terms with this!
Another example of Ara Vartanian’s love of colour and playful design in the asymmetrical setting of the diamonds and the unique shape of the gemstone. A two-finger ring, so beautiful and fun to wear; I just want to sit and admire it all night long.
A double strand necklace, again in emeralds and a unique cut of stone, this necklace delicately yet provocatively hangs from a beautiful chain with diamonds.
It’s always a pleasure spending time with Ara Vartanian. His designs touch me in the same way that the Maldives do – such beauty, it takes your breath away. It’s no wonder that I recommended his stylish boutique in the São Paulo Jewellery Guide for the World Gold Council.
