While the rest of the world celebrates women’s rights and achievements on International Women’s Day, in my home country of Russia we shower the women with tulips in celebration of womanhood.

This year on March 8th, I want to celebrate the design achievements of some of my favourite female jewellery designers and honour their delicate feminine side! I admire them for their ability to create, design and build successful jewellery brands by women for women.

For 10 years now I have been curating jewellery for my devoted GEMOLOGUE followers, and I’ve had the extreme honour of meeting so many extraordinary women jewellery designers. They all have a special place in my heart. For this special International Women’s Day curation, I’m highlighting some exceptional women from the jewellery show at Couture Las Vegas. I got the chance to discover 10 beautiful women and talented designers, and have been saving them for a special occasion.

Let’s take a closer look and get to know these fabulous women and the creativity behind their extraordinary jewellery designs.

SILVIA FURMANOVICH

An extraordinary woman, Silvia is one of most famous Brazilian designers, a lady of great taste in fashion and an amazing mother to her three sons! Difficulties and losses in life have not brought her down, but taught to see the beauty of life every single day. Truly a super human Silvia Furmanovich takes jewellery collectors across the globe. Influenced by global cultures ancestry and exotic materials, her jewelry is perceived as an ‘all seeing’ art.

Silvia Furmanovich jewels appeal to me with their elegant, yet bold character, accurately reflecting her own personality. I was honoured to become the face of Botanica collection created from marquetry wood and precious gemstones to resemble most beautiful gifts of nature- flowers. I have unparalleled love for Brazil and Silvia Furmanovich jewellery is one of the reasons I adore it so much!

VIRNA CHAKARDEMIAN OF YEPREM

When Virna enters the room, everyone’s instantly drawn to her. Her distinctive hairstyle and personal take on Lebanese glamour always make a statement and let’s you know who’s the boss! Virna Chakardemian is the female energy and creative director behind Beirut-based brand Yeprem. This legendary powerhouse of a woman is the second generation running the Yeprem family business. Together with her brothers, she’s revived this classical brand and given it a modern touch.

Today Yeprem celebrates feminine sensuality with jewels becoming diamond sculptural extensions of female hands and ears. Virna has developed a bold take on fine jewellery and has made the marquise cut a signature attribute of Yepremdesigns. She is the queen of diamonds herself!

CAROL KAUFFMANN

An emerging Brazilian designer, Carol’s fantastic designs bring out her exceptional talent and bright character. Her positive vibe is contagious and she never misses a chance to spot the beauty in everything around her. Everyone smiles in her presence. Carol’s jewellery career embraces a broad array of interests and occupations: sculpting, fashion designing and goldsmithing.

Carol Kauffmann jewellery is inspired by art, history and Brazilian gemstones for a marvellous, sparkling energy. Using the best golds for a fresh, wearable, contemporary feel, Carol Kauffmann jewellery is colourful and vibrant.

TAMARA COMOLLI

German-born designer Tamara Comolli studied Business and worked in consultancy before dedicating her life to an all-consuming passion for jewellery (just like me!). Tamara is one of the most hard-working people I know. Her unbreakable persistence growing and perfecting her personal brand for the past 27 years shows a woman with a clear vision and remarkable endurance.a

I was obsessed with a bracelet from her legendary colour stories collection even before I launched GEMOLOGUE. Such a special experience meeting her and getting absorbed in a colourful array of cabochon gemstones again!

CAROLINA BUCCI

What we could all learn from Carolina Bucci is to never forget we’re children at heart! I can always see the little girl shining through her eyes as she shows me her beautiful jewels inspired by her childhood stories. Lucky bracelet is just one of her signature designs inspired by those iconic beaded friendship bracelets.

Carolina Bucci is the fourth generation of Italian craftsmen and goldsmiths and to keep familial traditions alive her jewellery is handmade in a workshop in Florence. Yet, her jewels have a contemporary look and are so playful and delicate. It’s too tempting to just wear all of them and never take them off!

KIRSTY STONE OF RETROUVAÍ

Kirsty is such a calm and understanding person. No wonder she creates jewellery that every woman dreams of! Growing up in Canada, she used to spend hours making beaded jewels, setting her passion for fun designs early in life. Today her jewellery creations incorporate an array of colourful gemstones in a dainty look, crafted with exceptional quality.

Kirsty’s sweet and gentle personality is something that helps her speak and connect to women through her jewels, empowering them to self-purchase future heirlooms. I wish I was always as energetic as Yael with her all-consuming love for what she does. A talented women supporting and celebrating women with her kinetic jewels designed to adjust to the wearer’s unique personality and rhythm. Growing up between New York, Sao Paulo and Paris, since a young age Yael has been designing jewels, drawing inspiration from art and the energy of each gemstone she discovers.

Always handmade with the greatest care, Yael Sonia’s wearable jewellery resembles small sculptures with free-set gemstones at liberty to move and tinkle inside gold structures. Yael’s creativity continuously blows my mind and her designs are on top of my jewellery wish list!

BROOKE GREGSON

Born in sunny Los Angles, Brooke is naturally a big dreamer and even more of an achiever! Her ambitious personality and courage to do what she loves the most helped establish her brand 12 years ago. Ever since Brooke Gregson  has been designing delicate gemstone jewels, paying great attention to the details and craftsmanship of her pieces.

Her background in textile and watercolour painting shines through the vibrant colours of her delicate jewels, which are just meant for playful layering and stacking! Just like the women who wear it, Brooke Gregson‘s jewels are independent and sensible in their beauty. Dainty sculptural jewellery with a soul between London and LA!

MARINA BELOTSERKOVSKAYA OF LIZA BELOTSERKOVSKAYA JEWELLERY

Marina is the beautiful Russian woman and designer behind Liza Belotserkovskaya brand, named after her daughter. This emerging brand beautifully combines design, talent, and motherhood.
