The TABAYER Oera collection draws upon ancient wisdom, spiritual protection and a sculptural abstract of gold and diamonds. First launched at Paris Fashion Week in autumn 2021, the collection will now travel to COUTURE 2022 at Wynn Las Vegas held from June 9-12. I met with Tabayer founder Nigora Tokhtabayeva in Paris to get an intimate look at this timeless yet modern jewellery collection.

As you know, I won’t recommend any jewels without trying them on myself first. So when I have the opportunity to photograph jewels up close, it is a truly precious and meditative experience. I really get to know the pieces, how they’re crafted, designed and polished, so I can show you my favourite pieces in the best possible light.

CLEAN, MODERN AESTHETIC

There is a voluptuous spirit to the TABAYER Oera collection that is captured in the jewels’ asymmetrical, curvaceous design. It is so empowering, you don’t want to take the jewels off! A fusion of sculpture and ornament with the kind of modern appeal we all crave in jewellery. The Oera collection is fresh, abstract and perfectly in tune with today’s current jewellery trends.

SYMBOL OF PROTECTION

Inspired by the ancient Sumerian goddess of love, fertility, protection and justice, the TABAYER Oera collection  centres around a single motif—Inanna’s knot—a sacred symbol of protection. SIGNATURE MARK

Take a look at the unique way Tokhtabayeva uses to mark the TABAYER signature. All Oera are based on one motif – an abstracted interpretation of Inanna’s knot – a coiled bundle of reeds that in ancient Mesopotamia were placed on houses for protection. Each piece features a subtle mark – a line reminiscent of the tie that held the bundle of reeds together. An elegant way to leave TABAYER brand’s mark.

I believe jewels need to be worn in order to be appreciated, and the real test for me is whether the piece sits comfortably against my skin! Oera Bracelets pass the test and are a delight to wear. I like to call this ring a little treasure with a modern design that I just love. A protective knot of warm gold, like a mini sculpture with a big impact, suitable for any wardrobe and punctuated with a complementary, circular white diamond.

OERA HOOP PAVED WITH DIAMONDS

A unique interpretation of the hoop earring, subtle asymmetry brings these gold earrings to life with a cluster of sparkling diamonds. An essential finishing touch to your look. A sculptural pendant with a beautiful chain design, I promise you will fall in love with its clasp! It’s the first time I haven’t struggled or had to ask my husband to help me with the clasp! Brilliantly executed! Bravo TABAYER!

Try out different looks for layering your necklaces by placing them on a table or flat surface. Then you can play around with the order (without struggling with the clasps!) until you create the look you like the best. I love to style the Oera pendant in white gold with its mini version in yellow gold. Feels so fresh to mix and match colours of gold.
