REINVENT YOUR JEWELLERY DURING LOCKDOWN WITH LIZA URLA

Bored in lockdown? Reinvent your jewellery! One jewel could have so many uses and I am all about recycling! What a strange time to be alive! It has become very challenging to even do the most ordinary of things like food shopping, travelling to work or being able to see friends and family. As you know I have been here in Brazil for quite some time, and despite my plans to be flying back home soon, I am having to extend my stay. Whilst I could sit here complaining about how this is not how I intended to start 2021 and how I miss my routine and having all my things at hand (and not in a Safestore), I have found myself revisiting all the possible ways a jewel could be worn. Indulging in creativity and experimenting always boosts my mood and motivates me!

Bloom where you are planted. Today my GEM squad, I’ll be planting some gorgeous white frangipani in my ears! What is your favourite flower? Hoop earrings are a golden staple of mine. I just love how versatile they are and how they can always add spice to any outfit! But today I am feeling extra inspired and I will go extra exotic by adding fresh white frangipani to my hoops. If you want to join the “Flower Power” team, watch my video on how I created my statement earrings by decorating my everyday gold hoops.

Need a longer chain? Don’t know if you should go for the pearl necklace or your favourite golden one? Or should you maybe layer both? Oh, questions…Tell me, what would you pick? If you can’t make your mind up, don’t despair! There is a solution to every problem. Today I have worn an extra-long chain by connecting my freshwater pearls to my vintage chain necklace. Not only I don’t have to choose between the two of them, but I get to shine twice as brighter by wearing them both!

Welcome to the world of charms where more is more. And if out of charms, you can always add your favourite rings! Rings are no doubt my most beloved accessory. They can be stacked, worn on their own, and they can be added as pendants to necklaces, bracelets, and earrings… Talk about parures! Today I decided to let my hands breathe and wear the extra sparkle around my neck by adding two of my favourite rings to my gold chain. I love wearing my rings on my necklace when working out or simply cooking and doing housework, this way I can still carry their magic energy without having to leave them lying around.

Gold bracelets and chains have proven to be one of the most versatile accessories, but today’s trick it’s guaranteed to change how you use these accessories forever. I am constantly looking for ways to differentiate myself. Pushing my boundaries and stepping out of my comfort zone is where it all starts! There is only one simple rule to succeeding in this: don’t be scared to reinvent the wheel. These bracelets might be simple gold bracelets, but by interlinking them together you can create the “chain of chains”. Try playing with different textures and lengths, you will be surprised at how quickly you can turn these daily jewels into a glamorous and unique neck accessory.

Every woman in this world wears a little sparkle, some in their dress, some in their eyes…and some on their shoes. Brooches are a must-have when it comes to multi-purpose jewellery! I love wearing them in my hair, on clothes, bags and as you can see, I adore wearing them on shoes! To add the extra sparkle and splash of colour to my Delpozo mules I attached a pair of precious and very cute AlSerkal Jewellery brooches. I am OBSESSED with the hues of agates and quartz stones!

I am definitely feeling this lockdown today! The highlight of my day? Dressing up for groceries shopping. Dressing up comes in all forms, and of course, adding jewellery to my daily outfits is my saving grace when it comes to keeping my identity and let’s be honest… sanity too! How many times have you dressed up to be sitting at home or walking around the block? We have all been there! Today for my grocery trip, I chose to add this cute and romantic gold heart from Tiffany Elsa Peretti pendant to my hoop earrings. Try adding multiple pendants of different sizes and colours and watch your everyday hoops transform into the perfect statement jewel!

Floating their way into the jewellery world, feathers are today’s superstar! What do you associate feathers with? To me, feathers represent freedom. Whether you’re planning to fly off to a beach destination or simply looking for a statement piece that represent your free spirit, try adding feathers to your jewels just like Mike Joseph Jewellery did in his breathtaking collection, and watch your jewels come to life

FEEHERY-FACT

  • Feathers represent travel both physically and spiritually, they represent growth, hope and freedom
  • Native Americans considered feathers to be gifts from the sky. As such, they carried with them all the power of the birds, wind and air
  • In Ancient Egypt, the feather was the symbol of Ma’at, the goddess of truth, justice and order. She is often depicted wearing a single ostrich feather in her hair
