I attended the 10 year anniversary of Bochic, a famous NYC Fine Jewelry brand. The swish event took place at the Mandarin Oriental tea room overlooking Sloane Street. This wonderful location was complete with festive decor and Christmas spirit just perfect for the occasion.
I adore Christmas time in London, however, it cannot be compared to the magical Christkindlmarkt in Vienna. With all the lights and the snow, it was my favourite part of living in Vienna.
In the usual fashion I picked out my favourite jewels and styled them in the GEMOLOGUE style. This wonderful event was brimming with flowers and I incorporated these blooms with the jewelry. Flowers are a classical accent in fashion so I feel that they go well with jewelry, especially when one is surrounded by the most elaborate bouquets of roses. We girls do have a weakness for flowers, I am no exception.
More about Bochic, it was launched in 2004 as a New York based fine jewelry line. Since then Bochic has established itself in the fine jewelry world, it’s name has become synonymous with romance and timeless glamour.
It was a pleasure to discover more about and try on an amazing Bochic ring design from the new book by Carol Woolton, jewelry editor of British Vogue, Floral Jewels: From the World’s Leading Designers. The book delves into detail just how much of an inspiration flowers have been to jewelers and the people who wore their creations throughout history.
Gabrielle Chanel’s favourite flower was the Camellia, since the 1920s the flower has become incorporated into every aspect of the house’s designs. Christian Dior favoured the Lily of the Valley, as a result he made it the centre of his 1954 collection. Floral Jewels: From the World’s Leading Designers book makes for wonderful Christmas gifts including us here at GEMOLOGUE.
David Aaron Joseph, the Bochic founder, was in the music management business in London before moving to NYC and launching one of the worlds most well loved brands! Bochic is a favorite among the celebrity world, fans include Angelina Jolie, Sandra Bullock, Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Lopez. David’s had a history of jewelry as inspiration, his family were in a jewellery manufacturing business so he grew up around jewels. It was a pleasure to speak with David, about his new upcoming jewellery designs as well as sharing his passions for craftsmanship.
The event was certainly exciting, with guests from all walks of life. I did manage to spot quite a few “the Bochic Women” at the party! These women are the embodiment of the independent spirit, confidence, style, adventure and zest for life that Bochic evokes. Women from around the world that all have the same thing in common: Impeccable taste and a passion for luxury!
Bochic is known for creating stunning statement earrings with diamonds and coloured stones. I love the idea that these special pieces can be worn with a leather jacket for a ‘street chic’ feel. However, like all fine jewels, diamonds are showstopping when worn with a long dress. Strong styled earrings can also have an eye catching effect when worn.
After my wonderful experience with Harper’s Bazaar and antique jewels, star shaped jewels are one of my weaknesses, a perfect example are the Bochic Diamonds Starburst Earrings!
The Bochic signature style is undoubtedly the carvings, expect to find carved pieces. Each jewel a work of art, find a fusion of influences from ancient Chinese art and classic European design. A fantastic event to commemorate the first ten years of this successful brand, we look forward to more fantastic fine jewelry from Bochic!
GEMOLOGUE wishes you an amazing December and magical Christmas with your family.
