A DAY IN AMSTERDAM: BIBI VAN DER VELDEN STUDIO & HERMITAGE AMSTERDAM

Got lost in the glittering jewels of Russian court in Amsterdam Hermitage Museum during my latest trip! After discovering Bibi van der Velden jewelry in her  Amsterdam studio, we took a step to the past, exploring the dazzling collection of jewels of Russian nobility from the St. Petersburg Winter Palace and Hermitage. It felt like entering a grand ball hosted by empresses and tsarinas, where extravagant jewels saw no limit in adorning ladies’ garments! I was drawn to exqisite paintings and loved the meaning behind Bibi van der Velden Memento Mori ring, presenting the turbulent story of Romanovs in a cycle of life and death. Lushly decorated with sustainably sourced rubies, emeralds, pink sapphires, diamonds and 60,000-year-old mammoth tusk from the Siberian permafrost, this ring was specially designed for the Jewels! exhibition Hermitage Amsterdam.
