JEWELRY & FASHION-FORWARD PACKING, EL LODGE HOTEL SIERRA NEVADA, GRANADA SPAIN

If are looking for ideas for a chic city break or for an exotic destination, I’m going to have it covered. Here is my jewellery & fashion diary from the latest trip to El Lodge Hotel Sierra Nevada, Spain.

GETTING THERE

I love to travel every year somewhere new to ski and to enjoy local food, snow and fun après-ski ambiance. For this year I picked Spain as I had never been here before to ski. El Lodge Ski & Spa is the southernmost ski resort in Europe with more than 100 km of pistes! I really wanted to see sunshine and not to freeze on the slopes!

El Lodge Hotel is a 2-hour drive from Malaga Airport and 33 km from Granada. The hotel is located at the foot of the slopes and, at an altitude of 2,100 m, meaning there is direct access from El Lodge to Maribel, one of the main ski runs of Sierra Nevada.

FIRST IMPRESSION

Just like other Small Luxury Hotels of the World, El Lodge offers a welcoming environment (and a fast check-in!) with modern and quirky interior decoration by Andrew Martin. Owned by the infamous Marbella Club, El Lodge offers only 20 guest rooms – 12 of which are suites – arranged over three floors with the first floor with an open-air heated pool, a sauna and a Finnish hot tub. At the bar you will find lamps made from Campari Soda bottles, restaurant and lounge with an Eighties games console.

ROOM

My penthouse suite at El Lodge had a breathtaking view of picturesque Sierra Nevada. The contemporary, Nordic-style decoration that so characterizes El Lodge made me feel right at home. With its two independent bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living and dining room as well as three large terraces, one of them with an outdoor jacuzzi.

The room was spacious, exclusive and sophisticated with electronically operated bedroom curtains and lights. My favourite space in the hotel are bathrooms; at El Lodge they are spacious with powerful showers and Natura Bissé toiletries.

BREAKFAST

Surprisingly, many healthy options were available for breakfast. Delicious papaya – a true delicatessen in Europe – and oat porridge made with water and berries was my breakfast of choice. Breakfast buffet serves an abundance of Spanish treats, as well as healthy options, from pastries and cheese, to smoked salmon and fresh fruit.

SPA

After a day of skiing, hammam, sauna and massage is a dream. I was pleasantly surprised how professional my massage was: it definitely made my day.

HEATED POOL

The outdoor heated pool is the highlight of the resort; there’s also an outdoor sauna and whirlpool tub to enjoy a glass of bubbly at après-ski!

SLOPES

You can ski out directly from the hotel via the Maribel piste down to the main station. Sierra Nevada is the second highest mountain range in Western Europe after the Alps. The maximum height is reached at the peak of the impressive Mulhacen at 3,483 meters. In 1986 it was declared a Unesco Biosphere Reserve and in 1999, it became a National Park due to its biodiversity and natural beauty.

APRES-SKI AT THE SUN DECK

Ski-in from the slopes to The Sun Deck restaurants, Sierra Nevada’s only ski-in/ski-out restaurant. Order pumpkin soup in from the fusion menu, delicious grilled meat or even sashimi salad. I loved the availability of the signature cocktails to enjoy while literally sun bathing on the terrace, heaven on earth!

DINING

Cheese fondue is featured on the lunch and dinner menus, in addition to fresh grilled fish. It is not your traditional mountain resort, the access to variety of fresh ingredients makes it worth a foodie like me to visit and enjoy.

FASHION & JEWELLERY

Be ready for the changing weather: we are in the mountains. It can be snowing and windy and in a second the sun is shining bright and you would want to dress down to enjoy its warming rays. Read on to view my chalet vacation wardrobe essentials!

THE VERDICT

El Lodge has the feel of a chalet in a picturesque location with stunning mountain views, with winter feel and sunshine for a romantic getaway or holiday with kids. It is absolutely perfect to throw a private party or even a winter wedding. I recommend to combine it with the stay in Nobu Hotel Marbella to experience both sunshine and skiing in one trip.

What did you think of my experience at El Lodge Hotel Sierra Nevada? I would love to hear what you think by leaving me a comment below. Thank you!

Get your festive dress and adopt it to lower temperatures with the pearl boots by Nicholas Kirkwood. Parties in the mountains are not to be missed, so get playful with Wolford tights!

I just couldn’t part with my Cartier watch, a memorable wedding gift. Statement earrings are a must for me at any destination! I picked costume jewellery pearl earrings by Y Project – safe to travel and fun to style.

In the mountains Natura Bissé SPF and quality sunglasses are a must! Add a touch of style and sophistication with Bottega Veneta shades.

Every girl has that pair of comfy go-to trousers. Mine is from Calzedonia and I’m ready for adventures on the slope in style.

Adding some colour to the surrounding winter hues with this funky rainbow cashmere sweater from Lagoon Concept Store. Keeping me warm in style with my favourite Sevan Bicakci and Solange rings!

There’s no trip I’d go to without white sneakers! Complementing every look this pair from Crime London is always with me.

No mountain vacation is complete without treating yourself to an outdoor jacuzzi. I love beautiful swimming suites! Blending in with Agua De Coco one piece.
