THE JEWELLERY ART OF: SOLANGE AZAGURY-PARTRIDGE, HOTEL COSTES PARIS

There are many perks of being a jewelry blogger. My jewelry and style radar seems to be on all the time, constantly seeking out what and how people around me are wearing their jewels. It’s street style and statement pieces that catch the eye more than most- and I am loving pieces by Solange Azagury-Partridge! But just what makes one into a Solange girl? Is it statement jewelry or gems with a meaning? In Brazil the statement might be H.Stern, in NYC it is Tiffany & Co. but on London streets one might find Solange to fit in with the city chic that we so love. I headed on down to the very chic Hotel Costes in Paris to find out just why so many adore the creations by.

During ‘Moscow Fashion Week’ in Paris, I visited one of my usual hangouts, the Hotel Costes on rue St-Honoré. A hidden jewellery boutique by the infamous Solange Azagury-Partridge has recently opened. The ‘Soft Launch’ worked, I didn’t see the secret door to the new Solange boutique for two days in a row!

Thanks to Palace Costes magazine, I managed to locate the door bell and venture in to see my favourite Solange statement jewelry.

SOLANGE AZAGURY-PARTRIDGE

Solange Azagury-Partridge is an unconventional fine jewelry designer who doesn’t fail to impress with every new collection. She created her brand in 1990 with a vision of creating jewelry that is “full-on body adornment”. Today her jewelry has fans all over the world- including me!

Born in London, Solange Azagury-Partridge studied French and Spanish at university. After graduating, she took a job at world renowned London costume jewelers Butler & Wilson. A year, she began working with 20th century antique dealer Gordon Watson. Her time as a former creative director at Paris jeweler Boucheron was, I am sure a very valuable experience too- and is another brand that we adore at GEMOLOGUE!

It’s all these elements that can be seen in her work today, from a real British eccentricity, a French inspiration to sharp taste for colour, all combining to make the stunning pieces that the jeweler is known for today.

Almost anyone can relate to Solange’s work, take a closer look to find designs that sit in the middle of pop art and ancient mysticism. Each of the strong expressive rings have street style at their heart! Each is vibrant with colour, playful fantasy, gems and enamels. It’s these large and chic rings that have the personality to pull off urban chic at its most precious in my opinion.

Days of the week ring from Kinetic collection was the very first piece to attract my attention. This showstopping ring is chunky and has a precious, simplistic but playful approach to jewelry, this is something not often seen in fine jewelry. A heavy piece too, it’s a 18ct yellow gold signet ring set with square and baguette cut rubies and diamonds. It also includes a revolving barrel within that can be moved to feature the days of the week.

This bracelet is an exclusive design just for Hotel Costes, it was created to reflect the dynamic Hotel Costes vibe very well.

Here’s heart jewelry with a difference! The bleeding heart 18kt yellow gold and lacquer pendant has got to be my favourite piece in Solange‘s collections. It might look soft but this is a heart of solid gold and it’s surprisingly heavy too- and I adore it!

Wear this beautiful piece in a chain that’s close to your skin for jewelry that means something special! Solange has no preconceptions or opinions about the rules of jewellery, she works with her own creativity and I admire this quality about her.

The unique heart plucker ring by Solange Azagury-Partridge would have to be one of the most iconic pieces created! Worn by Charlize Theron in her role as the Evil Queen in the feature film Snow White and The Huntsman. This is a design that is as beautiful as it is unforgettable.Solange
