STEPHEN WEBSTER FOR COUTURE MAYFAIR LONDON
I have taken over Couture Social Media while visiting Stephen Webster boutique in London.
Think you know all there is to know about Stephen Webster jewellery? There’s more to the jewels than meets the eye! Founded upon 35 vibrant years of fearless creativity expect the unexpected as GEMOLOGUE delves into the world of Stephen Webster!
So he is an artist more than an artisan, perhaps a chap of flair and wild imagination! Although we do love the way he attaches diamonds to sapphires on a circlet of gold! So here are my favourite Webster pieces from the London boutique.
I was excited to visit Stephen’s boutique in London. His brand has expanded globally in the past few years, there are now nearly 200 outlets worldwide as well as flagship stores on London’s swanky Mount Street and Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills!
So what is it that so many love about this brand? For us it’s the bold and instant iconic style! The bright, colourful and exotic gems are just one of the many elements that the international fashion-savvy crowd just adore!
There are many inspirations behind the designers works. British-born Stephen Webster blends a love of traditional craftsmanship with a passion for music, fashion and art to produce jewellery that has to be picked up, worn, held to the light and loved! Jewellery that is contemporary with a chic glam-rock twist.
The Trend? Day and night jewels are combined in just one signature style. Here we are trying the dramatic ‘Magnipheasant’, from the new Stephen Webster collection.
Magnipheasant depicts colours from life and nature, it takes it’s core inspiration from the iridescent plumage of the pheasant; an exotic bird that is ever present in the lush English countryside.
You can find gems aplenty here! Amethysts, citrines, topaz, opals, garnets, spinels and coloured sapphires all come together with the tipped pave black diamonds to beautifully emulate the pheasant’s distinctive feathers.
But it’s not just us who love internationally recognized Stephen Webster’s amazing fine jewels! His enthusiasm and unmistakable creativity have helped him to win ‘British Luxury Jeweller of the Year’, ‘Diamond Jeweller of the Year’, ‘Jewellery Designer of the Year’ and ‘UK Jewellery Brand of the Year’ three times in a row!
Now an ambassador for Fairtrade and Fairmined Gold, Stephen works closely with Forevermark Diamonds.
When it comes to innovation, Stephen Webster is the jeweller for you! He invented ‘Crystal Haze’, a dream of faceted quartz crystal set over a layer of natural precious stone to produce a sea-blue-shimmery, holographic effect. One of the most surreal and unique jewels that we have ever seen.

Gemming Stephen Webster ‘Couture Voyage Africa’ Cuff set in 18ct white gold with white and black diamonds and mixed sapphires!
I got a chance to try on the Murder She Wrote collection. Heavily inspired from those quintessentially English crime dramas from Agatha Christie as well as the True Crime series of comic books from the 1940’s and 1950’s. I love the drama and intrigue to be had with these jewelled pieces!
What about his own thoughts on fashion? “Things have changed,” Webster says. “The fear factor, the reverence and the rather staid formality have all but disappeared. Magazines now have fashion shoots featuring H&M jeans accented by £10,000 diamond rings. Adding a piece of jewellery no longer marks a customer as a flashy, ostentatious type. It just makes a person look more…lively.”
Stephen Webster takes his inspiration from a myriad of different sources: Most notably from cultural icon David Bowie. the ‘Lady Stardust’ collection is a must for anyone with a love of punk and pop era music from the 70’s. These jewels include the famous ‘lightning bolt’ motif featured on the famous ‘Aladdin Sane’ album cover.
The Lady Stardust collection sees Webster capturing Bowie’s pioneering style from his time as a music icon. He translates this iconic geometric pattern into beautifully striking cocktail rings!
Stephen Webster has transformed the image of bling for us!
His works have changed the perception of jewellery in so many ways.
‘Fly by Night’ sees Webster continuing to create lasting stories through fine jewellery.
Trying on Bowie’s iconic geometric pattern as it’s transformed into beautifully elegant drop earrings.
I also discovered ‘Couture Voyage’ at the boutique. This is an exquisite collection of fine jewellery pieces inspired by iconic international destinations. Whether it is the chic and sassy upbeat feel of New York or the culture and style Russia, you will find it in this collection.
It’s the vibrant colours in extraordinary and eye catching jewels that I love at Stephen Webster Jewellery!
