MASTERS OF MODERN JEWELLERY: BEETLES+HUXLEY GALLERY MAYFAIR
I visited Masters of Modern Jewellery at the Beetles + Huxley Gallery in Mayfair (3-5 Swallow Street London W1B 4DE).
This selling exhibition runs until 21 December (until 4.30pm each day) and showcases 25 contemporary jewellery designers from all over the world.
All jewels are produced using traditional goldsmithing techniques hence no CAD (computer-aided design)! There is Luz Camino from Madrid, Shaun Leane from London and Munich’s Peter Schmid as well as Alice Cicolini, Georg Spreng, Ingo Henn, Janice Zethraeus, my favourite Lauren Adriana, Tom McEwan and Central Saint Martins graduate Sophia Mann.
Alice Cicolini rings are like mini art scultptures
Georg Spreng – the eye ring is amazing above!
Masters of Modern Jewellery is curated by experienced Joanna Hardy, former jewellery director of Sotheby’s, passionate supporter of independent jewellers and co-author of ‘Emeralds’ by Thames & Hudson – discover GEMOLOGUE selection of jewellery books here.
There is a sophisticated simplicity about Kamilla’s jewels that are timeless. Inspired by Islamic geometric patterns, Kamilla cleverly transforms these designs into three dimensional forms using 18 carat gold wire creating modules that have been expertly created to form mini sculptural works of art that are importantly very wearable.

Sophia Mann’s jewellery has been inspired by Georgia O’Keefe’s erotic flower and still life forms. She has combined elements of her family costume jewellery business with her life drawing creating these amazing jewels by weaving gemstones into organic, sensual and unique creations.
