LYDIA COURTEILLE “PROCREATION” JEWELLERY COLLECTION

Let me introduce you to Parisian jeweller, Lydia Courteille and her latest jewellery collection called Procreation. An amazing “creator” of avant-garde jewellery, Lydia has dedicated the past 30 years to designing extraordinary high jewellery.

Lydia is a true artist and gave me such a warm welcome when I visited her boutique during Paris Haute Couture week. The last time I dropped by the Lydia Courteille boutique, I saw Karl Lagerfeld picking up his jewellery purchase!

This time I had the honour of capturing Lydia Courteille unveiling her latest fine jewellery collection Procreation. You can watch all the intimate highlights on GEMOLOGUE IGTV.

As creator of this fine jewellery collection, Lydia Courteille takes on the role of procreator to imagine her own series of creatures with a touch of surrealism. She was also inspired by the fable by Jean de la Fontaine called, The Hen with the Golden Eggs. These latest “golden egg” creatures hatched from a previous collection by Lydia Courteille called Homage of Surrealism, inspired by Dali and Jerome Bosch. During my visit, Lydia showed me the paintings and sketches depicting her creation process. It’s an exciting journey into the artist’s mind and you can see behind the scenes on GEMOLOGUE IGTV.

Lydia is a passionate artist with a signature style, and I wanted to do her jewellery justice. For a fine jewellery blog, you need a good camera and for Haute Couture Paris, I had brought along my new Canon 5D Mark IV. When it comes to jewellery photography composition, you need the right lighting and the right lens. Thanks to jewelry macro photography, I could capture the beauty of the jewels and show the true beauty of these creatures coming to life. An important aspect of a high jewellery blog.

Of course, getting up close to these jewels, it also allows me to play favourites, and the turtle egg ring is just the cutest thing. A real conversation starter.

If you’re planning a trip to Paris soon, you can find the Lydia Courteille boutique on Rue Saint Honoré next door to the Place Vendôme and the Ritz. Or get your hands on the Lydia Courteille book – Extraordinary Jewellery of Imagination and Dreams – and find out what an extraordinary procreator this woman truly is!
