CAROL KAUFFMANN MATISSE GOLD PENDANT REVIEW
Reimagining the simple elegance of Henry Matisse, organic shapes come to life in gold floral metalwork with a colourful twist. A beautiful gold pendant with colourfully different looks to suit your style, the Matisse Necklace by Brazilian jewellery designer Carol Kauffmann is fashioned from 18k gold, accented with 0,05ct diamonds and comes with two interchangeable colourful gold plates for a layered, 3D effect.
From the Matisse Collection by one of my favourite jewellery designers, Carol Kauffmann, this pendant looks beautiful on the skin. I love when jewellery and art collide, and as I discovered during our interview last year in Sao Paulo, Carol is a great lover of art. From the great impressionists to the contemporary artists of today, she enjoys it all!
You can see the inspiration of Henry Matisse in this collection. Using flowers and plants as his inspiration, Matisse transformed these natural creations into simplified organic shapes. Carol took these organic shapes and created cut-outs in gold, adding an extra layer with coloured plates of gold that were carefully chosen to capture Matisse’s use of contrasting colours.
“Using the “color gold” technique that we developed five years ago, we decided to play around with coloured plates. It gives the customer the option of choosing which colour and shape she wants to wear each time.” – Carol Kauffmann
It’s hard to believe that these colourful discs are GOLD! The “colour gold” technique creates a layer of nano-ceramic over the gold plate via a chemical reaction. The nano-ceramic layer gives extra shine and polish to the metal. It is also very resistant and durable.
Take a closer look and you will see that the pendant and removable discs do not match! This is a clever design feature that gives the wearer a new shape and drawing each time. What a wonderfully thoughtful gift for a jewellery lover! Sure to put a smile on your face!
