IN THE BEGINNING?: It is the influence of my grandma, who is also my role model. She used to do her own yarn and she created a lot of knitwear. Socks and little presents for the entire family. If I look back subconsciously it is where it all started. Later, I went to Central Saint Martins and for me knitwear was the most appealing in comparison with fabrics and prints. It is 3D it is not flat. I can feel it. I can play with it.

FASHION WEEK: It is a great work. It gives you an adrenaline rush. When you finish the show it is one of the best moments and sensations to have. It is really a weird feeling to explain. I really feel for those designers who do a lot of fashion shows because it is one of the hardest things to do in fashion world like to put together a collection and present it. I love to see people whom I don’t know wearing my clothes and styling them in their own way after my fashion shows!

INSPIRATIONS & CREATIVITY: I get my inspiration from everywhere from what I see, from what I hear, from people I meet, from my family, from my son. You cannot limit yourself. My son is seven. He styles himself in a way I would never dress him up. From the drawings what he does. Sometimes I give him  a fashion croquis to draw so he can play around with it and he comes up with some design ideas. I think I can make a collection just on a basis of it.

COLOUR, SHAPE OR FUNCTIONALITY: Color. Each collection is really colourful. Colour is my passion and I always try to interpret it in my work. The feel, the touch and this is why I always use the best materials so the colour will stay. Functionality is also really important. If it is not functional you cannot really sell.

Ekaterina Kukhareva

ICONS & INFLUENCES: Valentino. I really like his work, his approach. He is a legend. And sometimes you can see his references in my work. I create for the same kind of woman. Elegant, romantic, sexy and grown up.

TOPSHOP OR CHANEL: I do both! But if I go out I wear my own clothes. Shoes is my big problem! I don’t even know where to store them! I am obsessed about them this is why I decided to do my own collection. It is never enough and each season it is more and more shoes!

FIRST JEWELLERY: On my 16th birthday my Chopard earrings from my grand mother. She really pushes me and critisises a lot. For her it is a crime not iron clothes for example. She doesn’t leave her house without having her hair done and nails done. She loves jewellery sets.
