SNEAK PEEK AT MAGNIFICENT JEWELS SOTHEBY’S LONDON

I was invited to Sotheby’s headquarters on London’s glamorous Bond street to take a peek at the selection of jewellery from the upcoming Magnificent Jewels & Noble Jewels taking place in New York and Geneva over the next few weeks whilst sipping on champagne and nibbling on chocolates.

I always get excited about jewellery auctions, because they are where you will find wonderful jewels which no one else has! Previously, I have visited Christie’s – Top 10 Jewelry Picks Christie’s South Kensington and Bohnams –  Fine Jewellery Bonhams New Bond Street.

Many come to Mayfair, and Bond Street in particular, in search of some of the best jewellery that London has to offer. Here you will come across Graff, Cartier, and Piaget, amongst many other recognisable and esteemed names in the luxurious world of jewellery. However, we must not forget that auction houses – Sotheby’s, Christie’s and Bonhams in particular – are as important to visit, to buy and for aspirational purposes. You will find truly outstanding pieces here – jewels that have exceptional provenance and unique design, jewels that you will not find anywhere else in the world. Pieces that in fact come at an exceptionally good price point for what they are.

Have you ever seen a blue diamond?

Jewellery collectors visit auction houses, because for them it is the ultimate stop to find special pieces, either for £1,000 or £1,000,000. We loved Marina’s B choker, which is the perfect fit for the current choker trend, and whose estimate was at a very decent £4,000! Perhaps, that is the jewel we will be bidding on as it will grow in value…

We underestimate what auction houses have to offer; here, you will find a dizzying array of jewellery! During your visit, you can also educate yourself about sparkling diamonds, vibrant precious stones, various historic jewellery designers. Auction previews are certainly worth checking out, which you can also find online.

Have you ever laid your hands on 100 carat, internally flawless diamond? The size and the brilliance of the stone are truly astonishing, and holding it in my hands felt absolutely surreal – this is a true miracle of nature. This is the ultimate collector’s piece! You can watch Sotheby’s video here.

This Marina B choker was my favourite piece, because it was attainable for us mere mortals.
