SILVIA FURMANOVICH JK IGUATEMI SAO PAULO

The first time I tried on a piece by Silvia Furmanovich was during my visit to the CoutureLab in London.  I will always have an instinctive reaction to a jewellery designer or artist that I love. Well I could not get enough and simply had to see more! Silvia Furmanovich jewellery took me across the globe. I viewed her work in Sao Paulo, the Silvia Furmanovich boutique in JK Iguatemi has many treasures to behold!

SILVIA FURMANOVICH

Silvia Furmanovich collections are full of treasures and concepts that she had herself discovered around the world. Silvia Furmanovich jewellery is above all art jewellery, pieces that really are wearable art. So what exactly is art jewellery? Is this unaffordable, unwearable or just plain weird? One could think of it as an amalgamation of art in jewellery form. A type of elevated bodily ornamentation, to the level of fine art and original design. It’s so much more than just decoration, craft production or conventional settings for showing off expensive stones or precious metals. Silvia Furmanovich is sure to make a lasting impression on anyone who comes across her collections.

The collection is built around antique pieces sourced from around the world to create one off jewels. Works are created with alternative materials such as shells and precious black coral to name but a few. Coral as jewellery was used from as early as 25,000 years ago. Black Coral is among the more exotic and dramatic, it has long been considered to guard against misfortune.
