BEHIND THE DIAMOND SCENES WITH MESSIKA BASELWORLD

I visited Messika during BASELWORLD. Although a young brand at only 9 year’s old, the Messika pavilion was spectacular! You will find Messika in 200 outlets in over 40 countries including Harrods in London.

Messika

The key to Messika’s success is it’s modern timeless design as well as fabulous diamond creations. I never thought that I could be so tempted by a diamond necklace as I was with these stunning creations! Often we do not think of diamonds as something edgy or modern, but Messika breaks the laws of nature!

Messika

Messika constantly comes up with a new approach to diamond jewellery as well as innovative craftsmanship and trendy design.

Messika

Valérie Messika Messikawas predestined to work with diamonds. From her earliest childhood, her father, André, was a key player in the French diamond trade. He took her along with him on his travels to seek out exceptional gems. In 2005, Valérie Messika created her eponymous but guarded brand, transforming diamonds into jewellery that has the knack of making your heart stop and your eyes sparkle!

During Baselworld I picked out our favourite pieces for you to see. Each piece is designed and elaborated with a concern for women’s comfort. Messika creates unusual pieces that are off the beaten track. The flexibility of Messika designs introduce dynamism and energy. Technical innovations that aim to remove obstacles between the diamond and the skin for a sensual contact with the gem.

My favourite pieces include the Angel Ring. In this piece, marquise cut stones subtly draw in the form of diamond wings. Defying traditional codes, this ring displays a rock and quirky spirit for a chic and casual look.

Another piece I found irresistible was the Toi & Moi necklace. It twists without ever breaking, thanks to an arrangement of nano springs. The suspended pear-cut diamond duo seeks to represent the bonds of love with virtue.

Messika

If I could pick a diamond necklace it would be the Messika necklace shown below, my one and only dream necklace! The setting of the necklace is mesmerising, timeless and effortless. This Messika creation plays tribute to the grace of women, of course while wearing jeans and t-shirt. But to be very fair; I think the brand stands out for their capacity to use diamonds in a contemporary way while still ticking all the boxes that great classical jewellery does. It has playfulness combined with all things classical. I foresee a great future for this brand and am looking forward to visiting the new Messika flagship store at 259 rue Saint-Honoré in Paris!
