MANIAZAMANI KASHAN CUFF REVIEW

You just gotta love the bold, geometric symmetry of this KASHAN cuff in 18k yellow gold. Inspired by architecture and accented with diamonds and chalcedony from the East/West collection, this cuff is the work of Tehran-born New Yorker, Mania Zamani.

A Taurus like me feels very strongly about everything they possess from the material to the conceptual. So when I see a masterful creation like this cuff, I can obsess over it for hours, just gazing into its many angles and how it reflects the light. I’m always looking for the perfect cuff that I can wear wherever I go. Two things I look for is the weight and feel. Touch is very important to a Taurus and the weight of a cuff needs to be hefty enough to make me feel empowered.

As soon as I laid eyes on this MANIAZAMANI KASHAN cuff, images of legendary photographer Guy Bourdin flashed before my eyes. Instantly I knew that I wanted to mesh the two together in a Guy Bourdin inspired photo shoot. His latest exhibit at the Somerset House in London had an extraordinary influence on me. Call me a traditionalist, but there’s something romantic about the pre-digital age and the world of Polaroid that Bourdin made so famous. The same can be said of chunky gold jewellery like the KASHAN cuff that is worlds away from the more delicate, intricate pieces we see more and more in London and NYC.

To cap it all off, my T-shirt by Jean Paul Gaultier x Beth Ditto seemed apt as his personality matches Bourdin’s in his power to entertain, intrigue and offend or upset. It sets off a dialogue that speaks to the architectural design and beautiful angles of the KASHAN cuff.

The shape of this cuff against the backdrop of London Mayfair is quite magical in the morning sunshine. The way the sun’s rays bounce off its golden facets is fascinating. The architectural patterns and proportions is highly stylistic and undeniably modern.

It’s a perfect fit and feels natural on my wrist. The magnificent angular shapes of this cuff reflect a skill that no machine can match. Crafted by Italian artisans, each stone is treated by hand with immaculate skill. Yellow gold is polished to a high sheen and white pavé diamonds offset the white chalcedony stones, giving it a translucent, pearly tone.

The perfect harmony of gold and chalcedony in this cuff makes me feel empowered. Chalcedony is one of those magical gems that possesses healing properties and its unique quality is its ability to absorb negative energy. In big city that’s exactly what we all need. It is the perfect choice of stone for a cuff inspired by architecture.
