LYDIA COURTEILLE FOR COUTURE PARIS FRANCE

International jewellery show «Couture» happens every year in the United States. It’s here that the most remarkable jewellers in the world get together to show off their latest pieces. I visited Lydia Courteille boutique in Paris as part of Couture Social Media Takeover!

Lydia Courteille
The rue Saint Honoré is just a stone’s throw from the Place Vendôme, and the flamboyant Lydia Courteille boutique stands out instantly! Known as a beacon to all jewellery connoisseurs and gemstone lovers, GEMOLOGUE  just had to visit!

Lydia Courteille

The Lydia Courteille jewellery brand was founded 30 years ago in Paris. Since then it has rapidly gained a reputation as a chic jewellers cabinet of curiosity, and I can see why!

Lydia Courteille

Turquoise, opal, jade, coral, ivory – every vitrine has its color, its theme, each Lydia Courteille creation is like an adventure story just waiting to be read. I picked out our favourites from Lydia’s collection!

Take a look around the boutique and one feels as though they could be in an antique curiosity shop! Every window, a peek into the stylish unknown, there are references to symbolism, nature, history and gemology to be seen.

Lydia Courteille

There is also plenty of nature to be experienced through the jewels at Lydia Courteille.

Lydia Courteille

In fact the work of Lydia Courteille owes as much to this nature as it does to the work table!

Lydia Courteille

Lydia imagines the women who will be wearing her jewelry: strong, mystical, liberated and ready to assume, fragile and feminine at the same time.

Lydia Courteille

Courteille remains true to her artistic vision, each of the handcrafts is pure wearable magic.

Lydia Courteille

Jewelry at Lydia Courteille remains an ultimate luxury…

The fairy-tale ambiance, along with bold and disturbing images are Lydia Courteille’s signature style.

Notice how the back is as beautifully finished as the front?

Each of the collections at the Lydia Courteille boutique has it’s own range of cool inspiration, each very different. Despite being so varied, there is still the natural, historical and symbolical references running through the designs.

The Crusades collection is instantly luxurious and spiritual.

I love how the jewelry falls between sculpture and fashion!

Lydia Courteille

Lydia Courteille’s website design was developed in collaboration with Lithuanian artist Nathalie Shau, whose digital artwork represents surreal and strange women. Her characters are strong and powerful at the same time, something I find so reminiscent in Lydia Courteille’s jewelry.

Each piece of jewellery is a unique, inspiring piece that is encouraged by a “no limit” imagination! It really is anything goes!

Notably, Lydia Courteille jewelry has been picked out for Woody Allen’s movie, Midnight in Paris, for the publicity campaign of Yves Saint Laurent’s perfume «Opium», as well as for various fashion shows by Carven, Alexis Mabille, Prada and McQueen for Givenchy.

Love all things Gothic? Well Lydia Courteille  was one of the first to re-introduce the contemporary eternal symbol of «passing time» – the skull, also known as Vanitas.

Lydia Courteille

So much modern jewellery depicts the sweet, glamorous side of life. At Lydia Courteille it’s all about the reality check: find fine art themes throughout the jewels on display!

Lydia Courteille

The timeless and eternal quality of life by Lydia Courteille is adorable! It’s made from an opal pendant complete with white diamonds and gold.

With my favourite professional jewellery photographer. To do justice to the beauty of each piece, I never take photos of such treasures with a phone camera!

As well as style, jewellery is all about fun too. Gemming the Amazonia collection.

Lydia Courteille was awarded the best «colored gemstone design» by Couture for the green turquoise bracelet with diamonds, emeralds and green garnets.

A jewellery tip: always take a look at the back of jewellery you are about to buy. It should be just as sensational as the front like on these fab examples at the Lydia Courteille boutique.

The jeweller takes a step beyond stylish jewellery and sources some amazingly extraordinary precious stones. Combine this with the most unusual materials for unique jewelry designs.
