DANAFISI HARRODS LONDON

I visited IN-Q Cultural Essence of Qatar section in Harrods and discovered DANAFISI Kout jewellery collection, an innovative blend of rich metals and precious stones that convey a modern sensibility. Unlike ultra-feminine jewellery Kout (fortress) collection has this pleasant heaviness to it.

DANAFISI

DANAFISI is designed by Kuwaiti Dana Al Nafis. As the jewellery creations of the past Kout masculine pieces are presented as inspirational objects/wearable museums full of information about past cultures, materials and techniques.

The Kout collection is inspired by Arabian Gulf countries’ heritage and is based on geometries, colours, textures, and embroideries found across the formal male tradition costume!

DANAFISI

The main principles applied to execute such concepts were system of hierarchical layering and symmetries found on the head piece “Egal” and cloak “Bisht”.

During the old days, both of these items materials were carefully chosen and crafted to achieve rich contrasting textures and colors, and detailed consistence repetition of patterns that highlighted corners and edges for a finish that reflect wealth and status. See for yourself:
