BOODLES THE WOLSELEY MAYFAIR LONDON

I attended Boodles ‘Diamonds and Pancakes’ Breakfast at The Wolseley in London. The piece that stood out was this Sweet Pea High Jewellery ring with vivid blue Ceylon sapphire. Sapphire is my favourite gem. Boodles Founded in 1798, Boodles started as a jewellery multi brand. Over the centuries, Boodles has developed signature style and recently added coloured stones to it’s collection. A family-run business for more than two centuries, the Boodles diamond-buying expertise has been passed down from generation to generation. To put that into perspective, the equivalent of 20 double-decker buses of soil is pushed out of the ground to mine one carat of diamond. From that one carat just 20% is used in jewellery. Less than 1% of these stones are good enough for Boodles jewellery! Boodles In the same way that Louis Vuitton had launched a signature diamond cut based in their iconic monogram flowers – a round-cut flower diamond, Boodles is famous for creating the Ashoka diamond cut. The Ashoka is the most difficult diamond cut to produce, there are only a few cutters in the world who have mastered this art. Modified from the antique cushion cut, the Ashoka has 62 scissor-cut facets, more than any other diamond. The rounded corners gives it a brilliance beyond compare. This year, Boodles has expanded their Ashoka jewellery range with some wonderfully sparkly engagement rings. Boodles Boodles online expansion raises one important question. Will we ever abandon the habit of shopping for fine jewellery on Bond Street and Sloane Street? Could we ever really move into an online world of exclusive networks and carefully curated fine jewellery such as Boodles and GIFTLAB? Up and coming Fine Jewellery designers such as Leyla Abdollahi (more about Leyla Abdollahi here) already offers her precious creations online. Lets see what the future holds. Ruby Vintage Lace necklace: 20.99 carats of rubies in a vintage lace, platinum setting and surrounded by a further 10.77 carats of white diamonds. An ethereal green fire burns within richly coloured emeralds, their luminosity symbolising a beam of light as it strikes through forest foliage. Petal shaped flames dance amongst swirling tendrils creating a natural harmony between the elements: earth and fire. Featuring the finest untreated Columbian Emeralds from the Muzo mines (discover the difference between Colombian and Zambian emeralds here).

In this suite vivid blue Ceylon sapphires rest in sparkling diamond tendrils decorated with briolette diamond dew drops. The Sweet Pea design is inspired by this flower’s curling, spring-like vines, which you can wind around your finger while admiring their sweet scented blooms.Boodles

The inspiration for this piece is taken from the entrancing play of light in northern latitudes, otherwise known as the ‘northern lights’ or ‘aurora borealis’. During ancient times these captivating illuminations were thought to be spirits and souls dancing in the sky. In these exquisite pieces pink, yellow and white fancy cut diamonds come together in a platinum openwork setting.
