BULGARI GALA DINNER, ‘DOLCE VITA’ HARRODS POP-UP

The glitz and glamour of Hollywood’s fiercest divas was the inspiration behind the Bulgari X Harrods ‘Dolce Vita’ pop-up boutique, now in store until November 28th.

This Bulgari necklace is a part of the the MVSA high jewelry collection, inspired by ancient greek mythology, nine coloured stones representing muses the nine daughters of Zeus – the stones are striking and bold.

The back of the piece is just as beautiful and polished as the front. It is the secret mark of the highest calibre of craftsmanship, since only the wearer sees the back. It must be perfectly smooth as it touches your body.

To mark the occasion and introduce the exclusive jewellery collection designed especially for Harrods, the beautiful Bulgari Hotel hosted a cocktail reception and gala dinner, and yours truly was on the guest list.

Each place setting was assigned their very own Hollywood Diva. Mine was Princess Soraya, the former Empress of Iran, who was known for her glamorous beauty and crystalline eyes.

Being the rebellious kind, I headed straight from my daylong shoot for Nick Knight Mastered, ignoring the ‘black tie’ instructions on the invitation. Instead I favoured black leather pants and the most unusual necklace of floating diamonds around my neck. Surprisingly for London standards, I was not overdressed!

Beside me at the table was Grace Kelly. Not in person, naturally! But written on the guest card. Just another one of the beautiful Dolce Vita women who adored Bulgari jewellery.

The stars came out during dinner, as models showed off the magnificent diva collection. I was bitten by the Bulgari Serpenti, my favourite piece. So timeless and provocative.

At first you see the bracelet, then you see the snake, and then the magnificent jewels give you a wink and the whole piece comes alive.
